For this expedition, Nikki worked exclusively with organic materials to echo the raw, textured essence of her subject. Using cold wax blended with natural pigments—charcoal, earth-toned powders, and soil collected at Chilko Lake—each piece was shaped over weeks of layering, scoring, and polishing. The result: deeply tactile surfaces that emulate the soft matte and shine of grizzly fur.
